SmashTap Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how JKAAS LLC, a Utah limited liability company (“JKAAS,” “SmashTap,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), handles information in connection with the SmashTap Apple Watch application, iPhone application, websites, external scoreboard, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).
We designed SmashTap to collect and retain as little personal information as reasonably necessary to provide the Services.
1. Our Privacy Approach
SmashTap is designed to use limited game information associated with pseudonymous identifiers, together with your devices and cloud services, without requiring a conventional user account.
- You do not need to create a conventional SmashTap account with a name, email address, or password to use SmashTap.
- SmashTap does not require your name, email address, phone number, or other traditional account information to keep score.
- Game history may be stored locally on your devices and synchronized with SmashTap’s cloud database to provide history, statistics, and related features across supported devices.
- JKAAS maintains and retains a cloud database of completed games as part of providing the Services, including shared game records, personal history, statistics, and synchronization. Game records are associated with pseudonymous SmashTap identifiers rather than requiring names, email addresses, or other traditional account information. We may also use anonymized game data to provide insights to our customers and improve the Services, as described below.
- Health and fitness information is accessed through Apple’s HealthKit and related frameworks only when you authorize access.
- JKAAS does not sell personal information.
- JKAAS does not sell HealthKit or fitness information.
- JKAAS does not use HealthKit information for advertising.
- SmashTap does not use your information for cross-app or cross-website advertising tracking.
Features such as cloud game history, synchronization, live score sharing, external scoreboards, website use, or contacting us involve transmission of information to systems operated by JKAAS or our service providers. Those circumstances are described below.
2. Information Processed by SmashTap
Depending on the features you use, SmashTap may process several categories of information.
Game and Score Information
SmashTap may process information about pickleball games, including information such as:
- scores;
- which team or player is serving;
- server position;
- game type, such as singles or doubles;
- scoring format and game settings;
- whether a game was won or lost;
- game date and time;
- game duration;
- completed-game history, pseudonymous participant identifiers, participant associations, and whether a workout was tracked during a game; and
- statistics derived from your game history, such as games played, wins, losses, and win percentages.
This information generally does not require your name or other direct personal identifiers. Pseudonymous identifiers can link records to the same user or participant and should not be understood to make the information fully anonymous.
Device and Application Information
SmashTap may process technical information needed for the applications and Services to function, such as:
- application state;
- synchronization status;
- connectivity status;
- device-to-device communication status;
- application settings and preferences;
- persistent SmashTap identifiers, authentication identifiers, and temporary session identifiers; and
- diagnostic information generated when an error occurs.
Some technical information may remain only on your device. Other technical information may be processed by our platform, hosting, or infrastructure providers as part of providing their services.
3. Game History
Maintaining completed-game history is a required part of SmashTap’s Services. A game may be associated with more than one participant, and retaining the shared record supports those participants’ histories and statistics. If you do not agree to this necessary storage and retention, do not use the Services. This requirement does not waive privacy rights provided by applicable law or substitute for any separate consent required by law or platform rules.
Game history may include information such as the date of the game, game format, final score, whether you won or lost, pseudonymous participant identifiers, whether a workout was tracked, and related game information.
JKAAS maintains this history in SmashTap’s cloud database, associated with pseudonymous SmashTap identifiers, without requiring a conventional account containing your name, email address, or password. A participant does not have exclusive control over the entire shared game record merely because it appears in that participant’s history.
Game records may also be stored locally on your supported devices and synchronized through SmashTap’s cloud infrastructure. When a player joins a game and remains through finalization, completed-game information may be included in that participant’s personal game history.
4. SmashTap Cloud Database
SmashTap uses cloud database services to store completed-game history and support synchronization and statistics across supported devices.
Game records are associated with a stable SmashTap identifier that allows the Services to link records to the appropriate user and participating players without requiring their real names or email addresses.
SmashTap uses technical authentication services to establish access credentials without asking you to register with a name, email address, or password. These services create an authentication identifier; this does not mean that the associated records are fully anonymous.
JKAAS and authorized service providers may access or process information in SmashTap’s cloud database as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Cloud game history is maintained for SmashTap through its service providers. It is separate from health information maintained through Apple Health and HealthKit, as described in Section 5.
Access to cloud history and synchronization depends on connectivity, supported devices, and the identifiers and credentials used by the application. Removing application data or changing devices may affect access to existing records.
5. Health and Fitness Information
SmashTap includes optional workout and fitness functionality that may interact with Apple Health, HealthKit, Apple Watch workout services, and related Apple technologies.
Depending on the features you enable and the permissions you grant, SmashTap may access or process information such as:
- workout activity;
- workout duration;
- heart rate;
- steps;
- active energy or calories;
- activity or fitness progress; and
- other fitness information necessary to provide a feature you choose to use.
Apple requires your permission before an application may access protected HealthKit information.
You control HealthKit permissions through Apple and may change those permissions through the Health settings on your device.
How SmashTap Uses Health and Fitness Information
SmashTap uses health and fitness information only to provide or support health, fitness, workout, and related user-facing functionality.
For example, SmashTap may use authorized information to:
- start or manage a pickleball workout;
- show workout status;
- display heart rate or activity information during play;
- contribute workout information to Apple Health;
- display current fitness or activity information; or
- provide a workout summary associated with your use of SmashTap.
SmashTap does not store heart rate, calorie measurements, or other HealthKit records in its cloud game-history database. A game record may indicate whether a workout was tracked during the game. That limited status is stored with game information; it does not include the underlying HealthKit measurements or workout record. We use the status to support game-history and related user-facing features, not advertising.
What We Do Not Do With Health Information
JKAAS does not:
- sell HealthKit information;
- use HealthKit information for targeted advertising;
- use HealthKit information to build advertising profiles;
- sell HealthKit information to data brokers or information resellers; or
- disclose HealthKit information to third parties for unrelated commercial purposes.
Health and fitness information may be stored or processed by Apple as part of Apple Health and related Apple services in accordance with Apple’s privacy practices.
6. Live Score Sharing
SmashTap allows users to share a live game score with other supported devices.
When score sharing is enabled, limited game information may be transmitted between participating devices or through SmashTap infrastructure so that another device can display the current state of the game.
Information transmitted for score sharing may include:
- current score;
- serving information;
- game configuration;
- game state;
- pseudonymous participant identifiers and temporary session identifiers, codes, or tokens; and
- information necessary to synchronize changes to the score.
Score-sharing information is used to provide score sharing and, where applicable, associate a finalized game with participating players’ game histories.
A user who receives or joins a score-sharing session may be able to view the game information made available through that session. A participating player who remains through finalization may also receive the completed game in their history.
You should provide a score-sharing code, session link, or other access information only to people with whom you intend to share the score.
7. External Scoreboard
SmashTap can display a live score on an external device, such as a phone, tablet, computer, television, or browser.
To provide the internet-based external scoreboard, current game information is transmitted to SmashTap’s scoreboard infrastructure and the service providers supporting it. Local display or screen-mirroring features may instead transmit information directly between your devices.
This information may include:
- scores;
- serving status;
- game state;
- game configuration;
- temporary scoreboard or session identifiers; and
- other information necessary to render and update the scoreboard.
The external scoreboard is designed around temporary session access. Completed-game history is stored separately as described in Sections 3 and 4; expiration of a scoreboard link does not itself delete that history.
A scoreboard link, session code, token, or similar identifier may permit another person who possesses it to view the applicable score. You are responsible for deciding with whom you share that access information.
8. Technical Information From Online Services
When a device connects to an internet-based SmashTap service, our hosting, networking, security, or infrastructure providers may automatically receive standard technical information associated with an internet connection.
This can include information such as:
- Internet Protocol (IP) address;
- date and time of a request;
- browser type;
- device or operating-system information;
- requested page or resource;
- network or server diagnostic information; and
- error or security information.
This type of information may be generated automatically by web servers, content delivery networks, hosting providers, or security systems even when JKAAS does not use it to identify an individual.
We may use this information to operate, secure, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the Services.
9. SmashTap Website
When you visit smashtap.com, score.smashtap.com, or another SmashTap website, ordinary web infrastructure may process technical information as described above.
The SmashTap website may provide information including:
- product information;
- tips and help;
- software updates and release information;
- support resources;
- legal information; and
- ways to contact JKAAS.
If SmashTap later introduces additional website analytics, advertising technologies, or other material data-collection practices, this Privacy Policy will be updated as appropriate.
10. Information You Provide to Us
If you contact JKAAS, submit feedback, request assistance, or otherwise communicate with us, we may receive the information you choose to provide.
This may include:
- your name;
- email address;
- the contents of your message;
- screenshots or diagnostic information you send us;
- information about the device or application issue you are reporting; and
- other information you voluntarily include in the communication.
We use this information to respond to you, provide support, investigate problems, improve SmashTap, and maintain appropriate business records.
Please do not send JKAAS health information, medical information, or other sensitive personal information through support requests, feedback forms, email, or other communications. SmashTap support does not require this information.
11. How We Use Information
We may use information processed through the Services to:
- provide SmashTap’s features;
- keep score and maintain game state;
- maintain and synchronize game history associated with pseudonymous user and participant identifiers;
- calculate game statistics;
- provide workout and fitness features you authorize;
- share scores with devices you choose;
- operate the external scoreboard;
- maintain application and website functionality;
- troubleshoot errors and technical problems;
- secure the Services and prevent abuse;
- respond to support requests and feedback;
- improve SmashTap and produce customer insights using anonymized game data;
- comply with applicable legal obligations; and
- protect JKAAS, our users, and others where reasonably necessary.
We may transform game information into anonymized data and use or share resulting statistics, trends, comparisons, and other insights with our customer base to help users understand play and to improve the Services. Anonymized data must not reasonably identify, relate to, or be linkable to a particular person, including when combined with other reasonably available information. A record linked to a persistent SmashTap identifier is pseudonymous and is not treated as anonymous merely because it omits a name or email address. Before using data as anonymous insights, we remove identifying links and apply aggregation, suppression, or other safeguards as needed to prevent reasonable identification of individual players. We do not attempt to reidentify anonymized data and require recipients of that data not to attempt to reidentify it. This permission excludes HealthKit information, other health or fitness measurements, and workout-tracking status. We do not use information for materially unrelated purposes without providing any notice or obtaining any consent required by applicable law or platform rules.
12. We Do Not Sell Personal Information
JKAAS does not sell users’ personal information.
We also do not sell game history, workout information, HealthKit information, or score-sharing information.
JKAAS does not operate a business based on selling user information to advertisers, data brokers, or information resellers.
13. Advertising and Tracking
SmashTap does not use HealthKit data for advertising.
SmashTap does not use personal game history to create advertising profiles.
SmashTap does not use cross-app or cross-website tracking to deliver targeted advertising.
If these practices materially change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any permission required by applicable law or platform rules before implementing those practices.
14. Service Providers
JKAAS may use service providers to operate portions of the Services.
For example, service providers may provide:
- hosting;
- networking;
- cloud infrastructure;
- website delivery;
- domain and security services;
- email or customer communications; and
- application-platform services.
These providers process information as necessary to provide their services on our behalf. We require service providers receiving user data from us to protect it at least as strongly as described in this Privacy Policy and required by applicable platform rules, and to use it only for authorized purposes.
For optional health and fitness features, Apple Health and HealthKit handle information as described in Section 5.
Our service providers support technical authentication, cloud game-history storage, synchronization, live score sharing, external scoreboards, and website operations. Depending on their role, they may process pseudonymous identifiers, game and session information, technical connection information, or communications you provide to us.
We may add, replace, or change service providers over time while continuing to handle information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide any notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law or platform rules.
15. Disclosure of Information
JKAAS may disclose information in the following circumstances:
At Your Direction
We may process or make information available when you intentionally use a feature designed to share it, such as sharing a live score, joining a game, or using an external scoreboard. Completed-game information may be included in participating players’ histories.
Service Providers
We may provide information to service providers when reasonably necessary for them to provide infrastructure or services on our behalf.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
Protection of Rights and Safety
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, security problems, abuse, violations of our Terms of Service, or threats to the rights or safety of JKAAS, our users, or others.
Business Transactions
If JKAAS or SmashTap is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, relevant business information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate protections.
16. Data Retention
Different categories of information may be retained for different periods.
Game History
SmashTap retains completed-game records as necessary to operate the Services, preserve shared game histories, maintain statistics, and support synchronization. Removing the application, stopping use, or removing a game from your personal history does not automatically erase the underlying shared game record or another participant’s history. A request concerning your personal information does not give you control over another participant’s personal information. Where applicable law requires deletion of your information, we will delete it or deidentify it where legally permitted; we may retain the remaining game record to the extent it no longer identifies or is reasonably linkable to you, or a lawful retention exception applies. Personal information will not be retained indefinitely solely because it may be useful for future insights. Properly anonymized game data and resulting insights may be retained without a fixed end date for the purposes described in Section 11. Limited copies may remain for legally permitted backup, security, dispute-resolution, or legal purposes.
Score-Sharing and External Scoreboard Information
Temporary game and session information used for score sharing or external scoreboard functionality supports an active or limited-duration scoring session. Expiration of access does not necessarily mean immediate deletion of the underlying session data. Completed-game records may be retained separately in SmashTap’s cloud game-history database as described above.
Technical server or security logs associated with those connections may be retained by JKAAS or its infrastructure providers for a reasonable period for operational, diagnostic, security, fraud-prevention, and legal purposes.
Communications
Messages, support requests, feedback, and related business communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, maintain business records, resolve disputes, improve the Services, or satisfy legal obligations.
17. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information associated with the Services.
SmashTap also relies on security measures provided by the platform and infrastructure providers supporting the Services.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. Accordingly, we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed, lost, altered, or disclosed in an unauthorized manner.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your devices, accounts, passwords, score-sharing links or codes, and other credentials under your control.
18. Your Choices and Controls
SmashTap provides several ways for you to control information associated with your use of the Services.
HealthKit Permissions
You can review or revoke SmashTap’s access to Health information through Apple’s settings and Health application.
Revoking access may prevent some SmashTap workout or fitness features from functioning.
Cloud Synchronization
SmashTap uses its cloud database for game-history storage and synchronization.
Changing device backup or platform account settings does not by itself constitute a request to delete game-history records held in SmashTap’s cloud database.
Game History
Where supported by SmashTap, you may manage the games shown in your personal history. Removing a game from that view does not necessarily delete the shared record maintained by SmashTap or another participant’s history. There is no separate option to use the Services while opting out of the game-history storage necessary to provide them, subject to rights under applicable law. You may contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information as provided by applicable law. See Sections 16 and 22.
Score Sharing
You decide whether to activate score-sharing or external-scoreboard functionality and with whom you share session access information.
Communications
You may choose what information you provide when contacting JKAAS.
19. Data Stored by Service Providers
Information used by SmashTap is stored or managed through service providers for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
These services include:
- cloud database services for completed-game history;
- authentication, synchronization, and live-scoreboard services;
- Apple Health;
- HealthKit;
- Apple Watch workouts; and
- other device and platform services.
Your ability to access, manage, export, or delete health information maintained through Apple Health may depend on controls provided by Apple. Requests concerning game-history information maintained by JKAAS through its service providers may be submitted to JKAAS as described below.
Our use of service providers remains subject to the protections described in this Privacy Policy. Apple’s handling of information through Apple Health and related services is also subject to Apple’s applicable privacy policies and settings.
20. Children
SmashTap is a general-purpose pickleball scorekeeping and fitness application and is not directed specifically to children.
We do not knowingly use SmashTap to collect personal information from children for advertising or marketing purposes.
If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to JKAAS in a manner that raises a privacy concern, please contact us so that we can evaluate the situation and take appropriate action.
21. International Users
JKAAS is based in the United States.
If you access an internet-based portion of the Services from outside the United States, information processed by JKAAS or our service providers may be processed in the United States or other countries where applicable service providers operate.
Those jurisdictions may have different data-protection laws than your country of residence.
Where required, JKAAS will process personal information in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
22. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights regarding certain personal information, which may include rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information regarding how personal information is used.
JKAAS maintains game-history information associated with pseudonymous SmashTap identifiers in its cloud database. HealthKit measurements and workout records are not maintained in that database and remain subject to the applicable Apple Health and HealthKit controls.
If you submit a privacy request to us, we may need your SmashTap identifier or other limited information to locate the relevant records, verify your connection to them, and respond appropriately. If you cannot retrieve your identifier, contact us for assistance; this does not prevent you from submitting a request. An identifier alone is not proof of ownership or authorization to access or delete records. Please do not send health information, medical information, passwords, or other sensitive personal information with your request.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights provided by applicable law.
23. Do Not Track and Advertising Preference Signals
Because SmashTap does not currently use cross-app or cross-site behavioral advertising, browser “Do Not Track” signals generally do not change how the Services operate.
Where applicable law requires recognition of a legally valid privacy-preference signal for a particular type of processing, we will honor that signal as required.
24. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as SmashTap evolves or legal requirements change.
When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we may provide additional notice through the application, our website, an application update, or another reasonable method.
